Blizzcon Is Not Cancelled for Good
In a press release, Blizzard announces that this year’s BlizzCon 2024 is canceled. They explain that the decision was not taken lightly, and they also promise that BlizzCon is not canceled permanently. Exactly what caused this year’s cancellation of one of the world’s largest gaming conventions is not known; Blizzard is keeping their cards close to their chest.
“After careful consideration over the last year, we at Blizzard have made the decision not to hold BlizzCon in 2024. This decision was not made lightly as BlizzCon remains a very special event for all of us, and we know many of you look forward to it. While we’re approaching this year differently and as we have explored different event formats in the past, rest assured that we are just as excited as ever to bring BlizzCon back in future years.”
-Blizzard
This year’s cancellation of BlizzCon does not halt Blizzard’s plans regarding what they have in store to delight players with. A brand new and the very first expansion pack for Diablo IV is set to be released. Following that, World of Warcraft: The War Within will hit the field, along with many other major events such as the Overwatch Championship Series held during Dreamhack in Dallas and Stockholm. Warcraft also celebrates its 30th anniversary, and it will be celebrated grandly throughout 2024. The year is significant for Blizzard, and players have a lot to look forward to, says Blizzard.

It’s a bit sad that BlizzCon is canceled this year, especially considering there have been four years without a show from Blizzard due to the coronavirus and other reasons. After all, with E3 and many other major events permanently gone, there were probably many this year who were deeply disappointed when Blizzard shared the big news.
